My time at NPR was a full-time internship that exposed me to radio journalism in an elite, fast-paced newsroom setting. As a Washington desk intern at NPR, I covered the 2016 election cycle. I wrote for digital and produced radio stories, often conducting interviews and gathering audio for on-air packages. I also worked at the front lines of breaking news incidents through the season, including the night of the presidential election.

At NPR, I learned about the significance of detailed reporting, humanized storytelling, and extensive fact-checking. I also began to consider what my role as a young Latina journalist might start to look like in today's hyperpolitical climate.
