Dallas is a gem, and working at the Dallas Morning News as the 2017 summer enterprise intern was a wonderful experience. It was a summer full of surprises, of challenges and growth as a storyteller.
My time at the Morning News allowed me to cover a wide range of subject matter, including arts and culture, community activism, live events, personal essays, and breaking news. I had the unique opportunity to delve deep into politics one day and pop culture the next— good stories, after all, can exist anywhere.
During my time at DMN, I was also the recipient of the in-house All-Star award for audience engagement, awarded quarterly to a story with exemplary online presence. My piece covered the Dallas Museum of Art's Mexico exhibit, specifically spotlighting an event honoring Frida Kahlo's 100th birthday.
